July in London
The summer comes round fast.
So the big news this month was that Makerhood went live 2 weeks ago. It's been a very interesting, and challenging project, particular from a development point of view. The site, although built in Drupal, has a custom shopping system I'm writing to handle multiple sellers (since I was rather off put by the complexity of the Marketplace module, all though having spent a huge amount of time designing and writing my own, maybe not so much). I'm looking forward to see how this project develops, and I have my own set of challenges within the project to work out design wise.
Work wise, things traditionally scale down during the summer months. So i'll be spending the time looking over other projects and seeing what I can get going... Still sorting that out. I want to make a bit more 'use' of London. I went along to a preview event for the HP touchpad at the Guardian a few weeks ago. This was after the hack weekend which I really wish I knew about previously. It was great to see the new device and chat with some of the people behind building the software and learning what I could write for it. I really love WebOS devices (I have a Palm phone), though not sure if I will end up getting a table just yet.
It's more event like this though, sort of like I was doing in 2009 that I want to get back into, especially now I'm starting to have a bit more time in London over the summer.
